Estidamah Explores the Challenges of Integrated Pest Management in the Kingdom

As part of updating the greenhouse labor on the latest techniques of integrated pest management (IPM), especially biological control. Over two days, from 12 to 13 November 2019, the National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) has explored the challenges and latest integrated pest control techniques in greenhouses.

To secure the optimal benefit from the workshop, both theoretically and practically, Estidamah invited Dr. Moeen Al- Qaryouti, Botany Specialist, Dr. M. Owais - Botany Specialist and Gerben Messelink - Professor Biological Control, Specialist on Integrated Pest Management.

The lecturers explored the key disease-causing insects, how to monitor them, identify their numbers and caused diseases. Participants, including faculty of agriculture graduates, entrepreneurs, farmers and investors in protected cultivation, were trained on the latest techniques of using different pesticides and how to control diseases.

At the end of the workshop, lecturers received and answered the participants’ inquiries; thus, engaging them in interactive discussions that enriched the workshop and its topics. The Workshop was concluded by Estidamah Executive General Manager Dr. Khalid Al Assaf who expressed his sincere appreciation to the lecturers and awarded the audience their attendance certificates.
