The National Center for Research and Development of Sustainable Agriculture “Estidama,” in collaboration with the Al Baha branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, organized a workshop titled “The Impact of Post-Harvest Treatments on Saffron Quality,” as part of its saffron localization project in the Al Baha region.
The workshop is part of a series of training programs and field visits delivered by the center to develop farmers’ agricultural skills and support efforts to localize high–economic-value crops in the Kingdom.
Sessions covered the scientific foundations of saffron cultivation adapted to local environmental conditions, alongside detailed practical guidance on best practices for harvesting, grading, and drying to produce saffron threads of exceptional quality that meet approved standards.
The workshop aimed to enrich participants’ technical knowledge and facilitate the exchange of practical experience between experienced and new farmers, thereby improving production levels and raising quality standards. The center will continue its training and extension programs to support promising crops, diversify agricultural production, and enhance resource-use efficiency.
