The National Center for Research and Development of Sustainable Agriculture “Estidamah" led the sustainable agriculture track with international participation from nine countries as part of the first phase of the “Jisr" Hackathon organized by King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
The center fully led the track, from designing challenges and providing technical supervision of projects to managing the virtual judging process, ensuring that hackathon outputs are directed toward practical and sustainable solutions.
Participating countries included Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India, highlighting the event's status as a platform that attracts global innovative minds to address challenges in the Saudi agricultural sector.
In the sustainable agriculture track led by the center, 128 teams registered to develop solutions addressing key challenges, including water scarcity, resource efficiency, low agricultural productivity, limited market access, and adaptation to harsh climatic conditions. Of these, 25 teams advanced to the virtual stage to further develop their projects through an intensive training program that included specialized workshops and mentoring sessions.
This role reflects Estidamah's position as a key enabler of the agricultural innovation ecosystem by transforming challenges into opportunities and supporting the development of impactful solutions that enhance resource efficiency and sustainability, contributing to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
