The National Center for Research and Development of Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) played a key role in the “Hack4SaferPlates" Hackathon, organized by Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and with the participation of a number of local and international organizations.
The hackathon event drew a broad attendance of innovators, developers, and professionals, aiming to develop innovative technological solutions to strengthen food safety and promote sustainable food systems.
During the mentoring sessions, a team of the Estidamah's experts provided guidance and support to participants, directing their innovations toward practical, sustainability-driven solutions that enhance the quality of output and meet the evolving demands of the regional food industry.
Dr. Khalid Al-Rohily, Director General of Estidamah, noted that such participation embodies the Center's commitment to fostering innovation in food safety. Dr. Al-Rohily also highlighted that partnerships with international organizations and local partners play a key role in developing advanced technological solutions that keep pace with global developments in this vital field.
Through this participation, the Center reaffirms its commitment to empower innovation and promote sustainable food systems, aligning with the ambitions of the food sector and strengthening the Kingdom's leadership in this vital field. It further positions the Kingdom as a leading regional center for agricultural and food innovation.
