The National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture, represented by the Tissue Culture Laboratory, delivered the first batch of coffee seedlings produced using tissue culture technology, amounting to 4,000 seedlings. This marks the laboratory’s first research-based production, aimed at strengthening coffee cultivation as one of the region’s promising economic crops and providing improved, high-quality seedlings. In addition, 15,000 blackberry seedlings were distributed to the Al-Baha branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
This initiative comes as an extension of the Center’s programs in developing advanced propagation techniques and producing high-quality seedlings, thereby contributing to agricultural diversity and enabling promising economic crops that support farmers and enhance production efficiency in agricultural regions.
The Center affirmed that these efforts align with the National Agricultural Strategy by introducing varieties of high economic value and utilizing its research outputs to serve farmers, thereby strengthening food security and achieving the targets of agricultural sustainability.
