The National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development (Estidamah) participated today in a joint session with the United Nations as part of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17). The session addressed the role of greenhouses and soilless agriculture in improving resource-use efficiency and enhancing the continuity of agricultural production in drylands.
The session discussed the future of agriculture in controlled environments and highlighted the importance of leveraging modern technologies to develop agricultural production systems that use resources more efficiently and are better equipped to address the challenges associated with dry environments and changing climatic conditions.
It also explored the role of greenhouses and soilless farming technologies in improving the management of agricultural resources and inputs, as well as the opportunities these systems provide to enhance the continuity of agricultural production and develop solutions suited to resource limitations and the challenges facing agriculture in drylands.
Estidamah’s participation in the session is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchange knowledge and expertise with international organizations, while highlighting research-based and technological solutions that contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural systems suited to dry environments, thereby supporting the sustainability of natural resources and agricultural production.
