The National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development (Estidamah) and the Saudi Irrigation Organization (SIO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation between the two entities in support of sustainable agricultural development, reflecting their shared commitment to achieving strategic objectives in areas of mutual interest.
The MoU was signed under the patronage of H.E. the Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture. The agreement was signed on behalf of Estidamah by its Director General, Dr. Khalid bin Marshoud Al-Rohily, and on behalf of the Saudi Irrigation Organization by its Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Mohammed bin Zaid Abu Haid.
The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration aimed at raising awareness of efficient water use and facilitating knowledge transfer in irrigation system assessment, auditing, and modern irrigation technologies, contributing to the advancement of sustainable agricultural practices.
The areas of cooperation also include conducting applied research and studies, organizing workshops and training programs, and exchanging expertise to strengthen institutional capacities and develop professional competencies.
In addition, the MoU seeks to unify efforts in fostering innovation, supporting innovators and talented individuals in the sector, and expanding cooperation in digital transformation, artificial intelligence applications, data sharing, and the development of advanced solutions and technologies for water management and the agricultural sector.
Both parties emphasized that the MoU represents an important step toward broadening cooperation and building an effective partnership that will enhance water resource management, advance the agricultural sector, and generate lasting economic and environmental benefits in support of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
