The National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development (Estidamah), in collaboration with Reef Saudi Academy, organized a workshop titled “Modern Greenhouse Technologies in the Kingdom: A Roadmap Toward Self-Sufficiency.” The workshop forms part of the Center’s efforts in knowledge management and in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and the innovation that supports them.
The workshop addressed several key themes, including greenhouse farming systems and modern technologies used to enhance productivity and conserve resources. It also reviewed greenhouse experiences in terms of management and production, and discussed development-oriented solutions that contribute to achieving food security and strengthening concepts and applications that support good agricultural practices.
His Excellency the Director General of Estidamah, Dr. Khaled Al-Rohily, emphasized that the workshop contributes to strengthening communication channels and the exchange of expertise and perspectives with specialists and experts, thereby supporting the development of strategic partnerships that advance sustainable agriculture.
He further explained that the efforts are not limited to maximizing production alone, but also extend to improving the efficiency of agricultural systems, reducing energy consumption, and expanding the use of renewable energy. This makes such technologies a sustainable economic option for the future.
The workshop concluded with a discussion session among participants, which resulted in a number of recommendations supporting national directions in agricultural innovation and sustainability.
