“Estidamah” Promotes Sustainable Banana Cultivation and Production Practices in Jazan Region

The Jazan branch of the National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (“Estidamah”) organized today a specialized workshop entitled “Banana Cultivation and Production: Modern Practices and Sustainable Technologies,” in collaboration with the Thamara Association for Agricultural Marketing and Food Processing.

The workshop aimed to promote modern agricultural practices in banana cultivation and production, improve crop quality and productivity, and optimize the use of resources, thereby supporting the sustainability of one of the crops well suited to the agricultural environment of the Jazan Region.

The workshop covered a number of technical topics, including land preparation and readiness for cultivation, selecting appropriate spacing between plants, irrigation system management, and implementing agricultural practices related to crop growth and productivity. It also reviewed post-harvest practices, methods for maintaining product quality, reducing losses, and enhancing its market value.

The Director of the “Estidamah” branch in Jazan, Eng. Awaji bin Haidar Abu Al-Ghaith, explained that transferring modern agricultural knowledge and technologies to farmers is an important aspect of developing agricultural practices and improving production efficiency. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and knowledge exchange, as well as the implementation of extension and training programs that enable farmers to adopt sustainable practices and make optimal use of agricultural resources.

The workshop is part of “Estidamah’s” efforts to support farmers, disseminate modern agricultural technologies, and promote practices that contribute to improving crop quality and productivity and enhancing resource-use efficiency, thereby supporting the sustainability of agricultural activities in the Jazan Region.​
