The National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development organized a specialized workshop titled “Investment Opportunities for Saffron Cultivation in the Kingdom," in addition to a field day aimed at enhancing practical knowledge of saffron cultivation and production techniques.
The workshop aimed to showcase the promising potential of the saffron sector in the Kingdom and highlight the economic feasibility of saffron cultivation, while providing a comprehensive overview of best practices and modern techniques to increase production and improve product quality. It also addressed ways to support and empower investors and entrepreneurs interested in entering this field.
The field day, held in Al-Kharj Governorate, included practical applications covering the various stages of saffron cultivation, from selecting suitable soil to harvesting and drying processes, with the aim of transferring hands-on knowledge to farmers and enabling them to adopt best agricultural practices.
This workshop comes as part of a series of workshops launched by “Estidamah" Center under the Saffron Localization and Production Enhancement Project in the Kingdom, which aims to expand saffron cultivation across several regions, including Al-Baha, Al-Qassim, Tabuk, and Riyadh, in line with the framework of the National Agriculture Strategy that emphasizes the importance of enhancing the sustainability of natural resources and developing applied agricultural research.
