Estidamah organizes open day program for sustainable agriculture

The National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development "Estidama" organized an open day program on the latest research results to promote sustainable agriculture at the center's headquarters in Riyadh Technology Valley, King Saud University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on April 19, 2018.

The program began with a detailed introduction during which Dr. Khaled Al-Assaf, Executive Director of the Estidama Center, reviewed the center's experiences in the protected agriculture sector. The program also included some lectures on the research, experiments and results conducted by the Estidama Center, which include the center's experiments on lighting in greenhouses, controlling environmental factors, using water and different types of agricultural media used in the soilless agriculture sector, in addition to integrated pest management.


Here, the lecturers reviewed the most important disease-causing insects, how to monitor them, determine their numbers and the pests they cause, and trained the audience of graduates of colleges of agriculture, entrepreneurs, farmers and investors in the field of protected agriculture on the latest different methods of using pesticides and how to avoid pest infestation.


The program was attended by a large group of people interested in the field of protected agriculture from various specializations, who showed great interaction with the topics discussed in the program and the results that were presented. The Sustainability Center also organized field trips for the attendees, with practical training on the latest technologies used in the field of protected agriculture.
