Estidamah organizes a Workshop on the “Role of Modern Technology Laboratories in Sustainable Agriculture Promotion”

The National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) organizes a workshop entitled “Role of Modern Technology Laboratories in Sustainable Agriculture Promotion” to adopt the technologies of sustainable agricultural systems, develop the agricultural crops produced, and discover new ways for sustainable agricultural production, contributing to the efforts of achieving national food security. This workshop is attended by a number of specialized experts and researchers in the field of sustainable agriculture and agricultural systems technologies.
The workshop reviews a number of scientific research and studies, as well as dialogs and discussions with the audience. It sheds the light on a number of topics through two sessions provided by a number of experts and specialists in the field of sustainable agriculture and agricultural systems technologies. The first session tackles three working papers, and begins with a presentation by Dr. Ahmed Al-Dosari from King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) entitled “Role of Genetic Modification in Sustainable Agriculture”. While Dr. Mashael from Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University presents Mycorrhiza as a biocatalyst and its role in enhancing sustainable agriculture, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Dous from King Saud University (KSU) tackles the biotechnology and its role in modern agriculture.
The second session reviews a working paper on new growth organizations, in addition to laboratory and research applications provided by Dr. Salim Al-Babili from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Meanwhile, Dr. Mona Al-Wahibi from KSU introduces the use of genomics applications to promote sustainable agriculture, and Dr. Mohamed Owais from Estidamah tackles the use of digital platforms in estimating the crops characteristics. Moreover, the last working paper will address the tissue culture technologies and laboratories and its importance in enhancing agricultural sustainability, which is provided by Dr. Mahmoud Sharaf Al-Din from the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA).
The workshop comes within the framework of Estidamah’s adoption of applied research; the adoption, test, and development of advanced technologies; and the focus on providing sustainable agricultural products for the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is achievable through addressing many challenges, sharing knowledge, building a culture open to innovation and development, and entering into strategic partnerships with the pioneers of agriculture around the world.
