The first session tackles four working papers, and begins with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Moaddi from Najran University (NU) of studies on lemon harvesting, coloring, grading, packing, and storing. Second, Prof. Dr. Khaled Almutairi from King Saud University (KSU) reviews the Salicylic acid as a useful tool to improve the quality and validity period of some strawberry varieties; while Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Jaleel, advisor of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA), tackles the use of tertiary treated water in irrigating some crops. The second session includes a working paper tackling the studies on aromatic plants suitable for agriculture in Khaybar province, presented by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Ajamy from KSU; and another study on the successful cultivation of two types of coffee beans under the desert and semi-desert conditions, presented by Fahd Al Rajab from NU.
The workshop comes within the framework of Estidamah’s adoption of applied research; the adoption, test, and development of advanced technologies; and the focus on providing sustainable agricultural products for the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is achievable through addressing many challenges, building a culture open to innovation and development, and entering into strategic partnerships with the pioneers of agriculture around the world.
